Boiler Installation Cost: Keeping The Cost Down

Controlling the cost of new boiler installation There are certainly advantages to updating your boiler system, but the downside is the inevitable cost of both the appliance and its installation.

A modern eco gas condensing boiler is markedly more efficient than even the more recently produced a-grades. This means you can get away with using much less fuel, and hopefully beat the impact of some of those painful price rises – but high-tech equipment comes at a cost, and any appliance with the complex electronics of a modern boiler will mean a significant investment.

The good news is that with careful planning and research, it is possible to avoid some unnecessary costs and get your initial outlay under control.

Make sure you consider these significant factors You can avoid unpleasant surprises by taking everything into consideration when budgeting for a new boiler system:

Boiler type and specification: Are you using oil or gas? Fuel type will affect how much you need to allow for the appliance itself. While the price of a new, uber-efficient gas boiler might seem steep, you can at least feel reassured that the savings on you fuel bill will justify the initial cost.

Property size: the size of your new system, from radiators and pipes, to the capacity of the boiler itself will depend on the size of your home, so make sure you are realistic in you calculations. Considering an extension? Save time, money and inconvenience and make sure you fit a system with the capacity to service the house as it will be.

Incorporating existing infrastructure: fittings that are already in place, fully functioning and compatible with the new boiler can be reused, and may help bring down the cost of the project. An expert opinion is advised to check the condition of these fittings, and they will need to be treated with a power flush first.

Do your research Don’t be afraid to get professional quotes as part of your research – you’ll soon find out what aspects of your property and existing system are most likely to save/cost you money.

We Love Central Heating

At A1 Gas Force we are passionate about what we do, but you don’t have to be a dedicated central heating engineer to see what is so great about this domestic innovation.

Central heating might occasionally receive a bit of a bad press: we expect our homes to be too warm all the time; it increases problems such as dry skin and asthma, but despite all that and the rising popularity of alternative systems, we just want to say: we love central heating!

We know our customers depend on their heating, and it isn’t hard to see why. Your boiler and radiators deliver almost instant heat at the touch of a button, and likewise can be turned off should the weather suddenly warm up.

With a sophisticated thermostat, you might never have to think about your heating at all because it comes on automatically to keep your house at a regulated temperature. And individual radiator control allows you to decide per room how warm your want it to be – so if you like a cool bedroom, but a toasty bathroom, that’s no problem.

With central heating now such an ordinary part of our lives, it’s easy to take it for granted – until something goes wrong.

As a team that has worked with heating systems for many years, we know that the best route to a healthy, reliable system is regular maintenance. That’s why we advise our customers to make sure they get an annual boiler check and bleed radiators regularly. At the first sign of any problem it is vital to get help from a professional to ensure the problem doesn’t get worse – we know that faults won’t repair themselves!

Bathroom Niggles

If your bathroom hasn’t had the benefit of a complete renewal for years, you might be living with the undesirable results of dated design, and half-hearted efforts at renovation that make your bathroom unattractive and cause niggles.

That’s why we offer a full design and consultation service with our bathrooms. Our experienced team can help design out those awkward areas, storage issues, and bits that just don’t work, making your bathroom more pleasant to use and easier to keep clean.

Our survey told us some of the bathroom niggles you’ve endured from an old or badly planned bathroom:

Shower curtains: it’s a familiar tale. Even when you can get them to stay up, shower curtains are difficult to keep mildew-free.

We say: have you considered a separate shower or wet room? With professional designers to help you make the most of your available space, you could be rid of the shower curtain problem for ever.

Surfaces and storage: Having enough space to keep things shut away, and just the right amount of surface space for the rest can be tricky (too many products lying around makes cleaning harder!).

We say: Making the most of space is key so once you’ve decided on the suit and basic layout, you can decide where cabinets need to go and where ledges or open shelves would be handy.

Towels: Hanging towels and ensuring they dry properly is a major bugbear. Many rails aren’t wide enough or allow enough space behind, and it’s impossible to get anything to stay on a radiator.

We say: why not replace your bathroom radiator with a heated towel rail – these provide plenty of space, towels will dry thoroughly, and are less likely to end up on the floor.

With the A1 Gas Force complete service you can look forward to a stylish, luxurious and niggle free new bathroom.

What is Gas Safe and why do we have it?

At A1 Gas Force we are Gas Safe registered gas engineers and this allows us to carry out work on your boiler, and provides assurances to you, the customer about the safety standards of that work.

You boiler is a powerful device that is usually in action day after day, with the wear and tear to match. Appliances that deal with hot water have additional problems to contend with, due to corrosion and build up of mineral deposits, such as lime scale. But remember, you should only call on a professional Gas Safe engineer if problems develop.

What does Gas Safe do?

Gas Safe is the official register of approved gas engineers for the UK. It replaced CORGI in April 2009.

It is vital that any gas appliance in the home is worked on by someone with the qualifications and skills to do the job, due to the risk posed by gas leaks, fire, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Gas Safe is there to provide reassurance for the public and to protect from operators who may not have the ability to carry out a job safely.

The Gas Safe body holds the register, and actively carries out investigations into rogue practice. It also conducts regular inspections of Gas Safe registered engineers, and educates consumers about gas safety.

So if you need an engineer to install, repair or carry out checks on your boiler, you can use the register to choose an engineer, or to check that your engineer is registered. Their website is also a great place to go for advice on gas safety.

28 years of approved service demonstrates our commitment to best practice when it comes to your boiler. Contact us now for repair or further information on any of our services.

Plumbers

How could plumbers save you money on household bills in Coventry and locally?

We’ve all experienced little plumbing problems around the home and been tempted not to call a plumber. From dripping taps, to slow moving drains, some things seem easier to ignore, or can be easily resolved yourself. Some issues however, may be a sign of further problems to come, or could be costing you money on your household bills:

Dripping tap – if you find you have to turn the tap tighter than the rest to stop water dripping, this could be a sign of a degraded washer. In homes where a water meter has been installed, a dripping tap will soon add significant numbers to your water bill. Be even more careful if it is a hot tap, as you risk the flow of water increasing and activating your hot water system, thereby wasting costly energy too.

Noisy central heating – With the price of gas increasing, it’s wise not to ignore any indication your system is not functioning at its best and seek the advice of a plumber. A noisy boiler, pipes or radiators can be a sign something isn’t right, and left unattended an inefficient system will use more gas, and has the potential to develop into a bigger, more expensive problem.

Even if you’re boiler doesn’t seem that old, an upgrade can be an excellent investment, as technological advances mean that brand new ones are much less energy intensive. Check to see if your boiler is a condensing boiler (one with a plastic flue), and also check our Free Boiler page to see if you qualify.

A good plumber will do a quick and efficient job on any small task, and can offer good professional advice on your boiler or central heating system.

At A1 Gas Force we are the plumbers people can rely on for all this and more in Coventry and beyond.
